Since it's the last day of 2008, I figured I should update my blog. I'm not sure why; it just seems like the thing to do. Reflections and all. First, I'll brief my holiday break so far.
This break has been extremely uneventful. A lot of TV and Word Twist games. Some reading. A little cooking-though not as much as I would have liked to do. My biggest day trip was to Scranton. Interesting place- no offense if you love it. We met my cousins there who live in Cooperstown, NY so it was nice to see them because I hadn't in over a year. They are cute little kids. We ate at Olive Garden since yesterday happened to be dad's birthday, too.
Last night, Corey and I were tired of sitting on the couch so we decorated a gingerbread house. He did the roof and one side and I did the front back and one side. Of course, I decorated my side upside down-so my candy cane decorations all look like field hockey sticks.
The last few days were the first days that all of us sisters were home, so we played some fun games. During Outburst, the category was Women from the Bible, and my teammate (Courtney, age 17) said: Paula Dean!!! Best answer of the night.
Christmas was low key, as well. Some gifts that I received from my parents:
1. A SOCK MONKEY!
2. A French Crock
3. My parent's got me this dirty game because I guess the didn't see that it was an "Adult Version." Ha!
4. A cool hoodie
5. Earrings
6. Jon and Kate's book!
7. No Reservations- the cooking romance comedy (no better combination for a movie)
8. A Swiffer and A Dirt Devil Vacuum. (Gifts get lame once you have your own place and reach a certain age)
9. A little speaker set to play my iPod on for multiple crazy dance parties, Bethany-style
And there were some other things but I don't want to bore the only 3 people that read this.
From Corey:
1. JON AND KATE +8 Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD (it was a Jon and Kate Christmas!)
2. A recipe card box from Williams Sonoma that I wanted
3. A gorgeous bead necklace
4. Purple dangle earrings (very dressy so I need an event to go to unless I wear them while watching seasons 1 and 2 on the couch)
5. An aromatherapy pack thing that you heat because he was tired of me complaining about my aches :)
6. A Build a bear that he stuffed and put his voice recording in the paw (super cute). Although the bear is naked and when I asked why he said because the clothes aren't free. That's my man!
7. A Microplane Grater/Zester !!
8. Various stocking stuffers
He did well this year. I liked having lots of things to open instead of one bigger gift. I feel badly that I just gave him all clothes. I was uncreative this year.
So that is really all that has been going on here. The pretty snow is falling outside now (FINALLY!) and our NYE plans fell through. I think we are just staying home (minus Julie) and it will be my parents, Corey and me, and my sister and her boyfriend. Board games and food.
And, I will end with the infamous positive reflections on 2008:
1. Best vacation- cruising the Caribbean with awesome people
2. My parents' 25th wedding anniversary!
3. Graduating from college with Latin Honors
4. Getting my first "real" job
5. Corey becoming a Christian (that should be #1)
6. Working out so diligently from January 1 up until now. Dropping 3 pants sizes...thanks, pilates!
7. Phillies winning the World Series!!
8. Eagles making the playoffs (I knew they could do it)
Happy New Year!!!! I hope everyone has an awesome 2009!
